A little about me
I'm an editor and author coach who specializes in romance fiction. My clients range from bestselling authors like Pippa Grant and Lucy Score to new authors who are writing their first book. I worked with Entangled Publishing for four years, first as an intern then editorial assistant, where I acquired authors such as Kelly Jamieson and Carol Pavliska (currently writing as Carly Bloom). I have been a freelance editor for indie authors since 2016.
External accolades aren't really my thing, but I am proud to say that books I've worked on have hit the USA Today Best-Selling Books List because those authors write amazing stories! And I was also featured not only on Chris Guillebeau's Side Hustle School podcast but also in his LinkedIn Learning course.
As a coach, I tailor each program to the needs of the individual - some writers are looking for an accountability partner, others want to learn about publishing, and some want to plot out a multi-book series. I am happy to offer guidance and support for each of those goals and more!

My communication style is straightforward and kind. I want to help you create the best, most-sellable book possible, which means I'll be honest when I point out potential issues and opportunities for improvement in your story. I also want you to feel confident in your work, so I'll use comments and smiley faces in a manuscript to let you know where I think you're doing a great job.
If you email me, I'll do my very best to answer you by the next business day. |
My top 10 CliftonStrengths
Learner Input Relator Context Harmony Achiever Self-Assurance Maximizer Focus Analytical |
My editing style is focused on helping you improve your writing craft. Those strengths of learner, input, context, maximizer, and analytical combine to create the perfect storm of romance fiction in my brain. If you're getting a critique or developmental edit from me, be prepared for links to books, articles, videos or even classes that will offer either deeper knowledge on the topic I'm highlighting or additional examples. I want you to learn how to resolve the snaggy bits yourself rather than always relying on an editor to fix it for you.

Testimonials |
The old day job & other stuffI spent about twelve years as a corporate recruiter and finally pivoted to editing and coaching full-time in October 2020. I'm also a US Army veteran with both Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Intelligence Studies (like spies and military intelligence, not learning and psychology). I have a dog, I like to bake things that are very difficult and often French, and I've left the US every year since 1995 (except 1997; I even managed to get out of the country twice in 2020 before the lockdown in March!).
Catch me on Facebook where I share sage writing advice, silly memes, and photos of the puppers. You can join me for weekly co-working sessions and or enroll in The HEA Club, a community for romance authors. Follow my newest endeavor on TikTok where I am definitely not the core demographic but I have fun posting quick writing tip videos and talking about what I'm reading. Arrow pops up from time to time as well. Or follow me on Instagram where I refuse to curate my feed and toss up whatever pet, travel, food or book photo is tickling my fancy at the moment. Plus I lazily share my TikToks as Reels because I can't be bothered to remake content. |
Looking for something else?
Do you have questions about the romance writing community? Need to take some not-writing work off your plate? Seeking a beta read or critique but not ready for a full edit yet? Wondering if you're on the right track with your current project and want to bounce ideas off someone who isn't a close friend or family member? Looking for someone with a military background to do a sanity check on your story?
